Holiday
I packed a case
filled it badly
Not the first time.
Should have filled it with love
which would have been kinder to my skin
than the tight skirt
mini tops
and sharp hair brush.
I could have packed thick ink pens, lavender, olive oil, orange water
Could have rolled kisses and placed them inside my shoes.
But the clothes folded with city purpose
lipstick and expectation
tweezers
thirty four years
concealer
and sun tan lotion
Kept me awake and I lay there in the darkness
Over dressed
with a messy head
Wishing that this mirror would float out of my hands.
